Salem State North Campus Transportation Center

The Salem State North Campus Transportation Center project began with an exhaustive siting study to determine both the best location on Salem State University's campus and the approximate size of this proposed parking garage. To achieve highest and best land use, the team considered traffic patterns, access, parking demand, site size and topography, travel distances for cars and pedestrians, constructability issues (environmental, geotechnical, utilities), permitting issues, massing and adjacency concerns, queuing, Department of Public Safety concerns, and potential land acquisition issues.

Shady Grove Garage 2

Shady Grove Garage 2 is a 700-parking space facility with five levels that takes an active role in connecting patrons to area amenities. The construction incorporated sustainable elements and was awarded Parksmart certification in April 2017.

Silver Spring Metro Plaza

Constructed in 1986, the 466-space Silver Spring Metro Plaza garage sits below over 700,000 square feet of office space and ground floor retail. Energy efficiency measures, garage recycling and responsible cleaning practices lessen the facility’s impact on the environment. Additionally, access to the nearby Silver Spring Metro Station, carshare vehicles, EV fueling and bikesharing positions this property as a multimodal hub within the community.

St. Armands Garage

Located on the St. Armands Key in Sarasota, Florida, St Armands Garage is the first Parksmart Certified municipal owned and operated garage. Built to address parking demand on this tourist and residential key, the City of Sarasota ensured that community-focused goals were a priority in the planning and structural design. A high level of public engagement drove a design that minimizes light and noise pollution, integrates highly attractive aesthetics and provides community benefits that extend beyond vehicle storage.

UC Davis Health Parking Structure 7

UC Davis Health PS 7 supports UC Davis Medical Center, providing staff parking. The parking building is located approximately 1 mile from the medical center and incorporates a shuttle stop to transport staff from the parking building to their final workplace destination. To promote the health and well-being of UC Davis Health Staff, the parking building integrates open space opportunities, local art and numerous green amenities.

UC San Diego Athena Parking Structure

The Athena parking garage is designed and constructed as an amenity to staff and patients of the immediately adjacent medical facilities. The Moores Cancer Center and Radiation and Oncology Building, along with the Shiley Eye Clinic provide in-clinic and outpatient services for patients dealing with potentially life threatening and quality of life impacting diseases. We recognized that our design needed to anticipate stressed patients and staff and that we in turn needed to provide an intuitive, easy to navigate, and frankly non-stressful parking experience.

University of Florida: Parking Garage 14

Parking Garage 14 replaced the commuter surface parking lot on Gale Lemerand Drive. This structure is 7 stories and over 640,000 sf to support over 2,010 parking spaces. This project intends to consolidate both student and staff vehicle parking in a central location on campus. The parking structure includes many amenities that support various modes of transportation, including bicycle, bus, scooter, walking, and rideshare.

Western Kentucky University - Parking Structure 3

Western Kentucky University’s Parking Structure 3 (PS3) was constructed to add a minimum of 500 parking spaces to an existing parking lot serving residents, commuters, and special events. Because the project was funded with student fees, the garage design had to be simple, efficient, and provide a good value to the students. The site proved to be very challenging due to its location within a floodplain and within a karst region with subsurface caves and a known risk for sink holes. There was little budget for extras.
